Methyldopa Effective at Preventing Onset of Type 1 Diabetes in 60% of Patients

A drug commonly used to control high blood pressure may also help prevent the onset of type 1 diabetes in up to 60 percent of those at risk for the disease.  The drug, methyldopa, has been used for over 50 years to treat high blood pressure in pregnant women and children.
